AFC Liverpool appoint Chris Anderson as Manager

AFC Liverpool are proud to announce Chris Anderson as their new First Team Manager.

Chris has previously been on the books at Preston North End and Morecambe, and spent four years in the USA on a footballing scholarship, playing for the successful University side Rio Grande, where he also gained his coaching qualifications. On his return to the UK he played for Nelson and Lancaster.

Chris joined AFC Liverpool as a player at the beginning of the 2017/18 season. He soon earned the respect of the fans as a no-nonsense defender, primarily as left-back, but playing in several positions across the Reds’ back line.

Under co-managers Stuart Keir and Ben Williams, Chris moved into a coaching role, and then became assistant manager, following the death of Ben Williams.

A strong voice in the dressing room, Chris then helped guide the Reds to a third place finish this season after a final day victory against league runners-up Avro FC.

AFC Liverpool Chairman Chris Stirrup said of the appointment:

“Chris is the natural successor to Stuart. He has been an integral part of the management structure that has been responsible for the strong performances shown by the team in the latter half of this season. We have a good group of players here, and we have finished third in the division, which is our highest finish and also our highest points tally. Chris is best placed to build upon that success next season. He has impressed everyone with his ambition and focus.”

Following his appointment, Chris said:

“It’s a great honour to be named manager of AFC Liverpool. I would to thank the board & Chairman for giving me this opportunity, I would also like to thank Ben & Stu for giving me the chance to go from player to coach, and lastly I want to thank the players for being a brilliant bunch of lads and I can’t wait to get started.”

Chris’s first full interview as manager will follow in the coming days.
