Management Team Update

Despite suffering relegation in our final league game of the 2017-18 season, the Club continues to grow and the AFC Liverpool Management Team is stronger than ever.

Joint manager’s Stuart Keir and Ben Williams have committed themselves fully for next season and have managed to retain the dedicated core of the squad that finished last season with us (announcements to follow). As well as planning pre-season fixtures and training, the managers are working hard to add quality to players to the squad to give the Club the best chance in the First Division.

As announced back in March, Christopher Anderson stepped up to the first team coaching staff and the Club are pleased that he will continue with us next season. Chris was an important member of the first team playing squad and now forms a vital part of the management team.

Dave Innelli will also continue with the club next season in his dual role on the AFC Liverpool Society Board and as first team goalkeeping coach. Dave re-joined the Board last year after being involved with the club for many years before and is an experienced and respected coach.

Everyone at the Club is delighted that first team Physio Kathy Huyton will be with us next season. Kathy’s expertise, professionalism and positive attitude were a constant boon for the club last season and the playing squad will be in the safest possible hands for the coming season. Away from the pitch, Kathy also works with top 20 UK Heavyweight boxer Alex Dickinson and has used her connections to recruit a new Physio for the reserve team. Emily Jones studies Sport and Exercise Science at Liverpool John Moore’s University and we are excited to provide Emily with the opportunity to gain experience and assist in developing a potential career while making the most of her skills and expertise. Rounding off the Physio team for next season is Neil Farrell who stepped in last season as away Physio to the first team. Neil also played a crucial support role to keep the players fit to the very end of the Club’s final league run in.

Another player who has made the step up in the close season is Kieran Hughes. Kieran made a number of appearances for the first team and reserve team last season and we are happy to announce he will be Assistant Manager to reserve Manager Gary Hearns next season. Kieran is keen to develop himself and his knowledge and experience of the Liverpool County leagues will be invaluable for the coming season.

Separate interviews are planned for some of the new faces so be sure to keep an eye out for those in the near future.
